Last month it was mentioned that Bert Charlie owner of the local Philly Pretzel concessions (look for them just beyond the Bud Light Trough and along the third base line) at Allentown’s Coca Cola Park would be donating $1 to the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls for every pretzel twist or box of pretzel rivets sold during Iron Pigs games. If this wasn’t reason enough to come out and root for the Iron pigs while enjoying a soft fresh pretzel, Bert has now upped the ante in his support of the Rollergirls. Bert is still offering a one dollar donation for each unit sold, but if the Iron Pigs get 12 hits or more during a game he will donate an additional $120.00 to the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls! Originally this promotion was intedended to be a donation of $12 per 12 Iron Pigs hits, but he decided to increase his pledge and show even more support to the Rollergirls. This is a wonderfully generous offer and Mr. Bert Charlie is continuing to show his support for area sports and non-profits. I had an opportunity to speak with him during the Thursday evening Iron Pigs game and thank him for his support of the LVRG and he was as friendly and engaging as I expected.
Come out to the ballpark, root on the Iron Pigs and grab a pretzel or two. Don’t forget to mention the Rollergirls when you order! And if you are thirsty head to Egypt anytime and visit Riley’s Pub for food and drink. Bert Charlie happens to own Riley’s and has done a fabulous job renovating the place with plenty of Phillies and other sports memorabilia. If you love sports, great drinks, tasty food and good company, you will hit for the cycle at Riley’s!
