For those of you who may have missed me, I took a brief hiatus from blogging while I worked on finishing up my coursework for my Master’s degree. I am happy to report I am just about finished, with one major research paper completed and two remaining final projects left. I can expect to receive my degree the end of this month and then the job search begins in earnest.
The warm weather has finally arrived, and hopefully the rain will subside for awhile. Seems like our region is one of extremes as far as the weather conditions; cold to hot, wet to drought. But with the summer season come plenty of our favorite sports. The Iron Pigs have been thrilling fans this year with a new crop of young players and hall of famer Ryne Sandberg as manager. I’ve had an opportunity this season to explore a few other minor league ballparks and I hope to make a trip down to Camden Yards at some point this season.
The big news right now for Lehigh Valley Roller Derby fans is this Saturday’s upcoming home bout between the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls and Pittsburgh’s Steel City B Unit. LVRG’s past two bouts have been away matches so this will be the first opportunity to see them on their home track since March. This bout has been highly anticipated and is expected to host another capacity crowd. Prior to the start of the March bout over 100 fans had to be turned away at the door due to brisk ticket sales. With only a few days remaining before the event it is highly recommended that fans wishing to attend purchase their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. If you plan on buying tickets at the venue it is suggested you arrive early to secure your position in line. You may order your tickets online by going to the following link: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/172756 Advance tickets are $10 adults/$5 children, day of the event tickets will be $12 adults/$6 children. Tickets ordered online will be available in will call at the facility.
