The line up for 2011’s second We Rock benefit concert has been finalized. We Rock holds two benefit concerts annually in support of local charities. The year’s first We Rock show was held at the historic Garfield Hotel ballroom on April 9th and raised a generous amount for Autism Speaks.
The upcoming benefit will be held September 10, 2011 at Allentown’s Maingate nightclub which is located adjacent to the Allentown fairgrounds. This installment promises to blow the roof off the house with a kick ass line up. Scheduled to appear on the bill are; The Cherry Bombs, The Damn Dirty Apes, Social Call, Ambergris, Slik Helvetika, Bank Street Band (Easton school of rock) and Jade Scott of Type 14. In honor of We Rock’s fifth anniversary, DJ Hollywood who you may remember from the old Airport Music Hall will be spinning between sets. Working his magic on the sound boards will be none other than Stacy Smith aka the Mad Dr. Sound.
We Rock will run from 1pm to 9pm and admission is $8 with all proceeds going to Lehigh Valley Hospital’s breast health services center. This is a 21 and older event so, leave the kiddies at home and come out to support We Rock, the local bands, staff, and venue who are all graciously donating their time, equipment and services to the cause.
The day will kick off with a memorial bike run from 11am to 1pm (check in time is 10am, kickstands to go up at 11). Admission for the bike run is $10 and is in addition to the $8 admission for the concert. Bikers will stage at the parking lot of the Maingate.
Like previous installments of We Rock, this event is being organized by local radio host and regional music supporter Matt Metal. If you know Matt, you know this will be a well run and first rate event. Sponsors for the day are; Up in Smoke Bar-B-Que, 99.9FM the Hawk, and Showtime Tattoo.
LVH’s breast health services provide mammography, education and support for women experiencing breast cancer as well as the tools to combat this disease through early detection. There is a 98% survival rate if breast cancer is discovered early. Breast health services at LVH can provide the necessary resources to aid women in early diagnosis. More than 40,000 women annually choose LVH for mammograms and their radiologists are skilled at spotting any abnormalities that may appear.
While there are many organizations involved in finding a cure for breast cancer, Lehigh Valley Hospital breast health services directly benefit the regional community through their outreach efforts. Consider spending your charitable dollars at home where they will aid your family, friends and neighbors.
$8 is a small cost to pay to see first rate area talent gathered under one roof and as Matt Metal eloquently states it’s, “only $4 a boob!”
